My Background
At Nurture Cove Counseling, we begin with safety and empathy in order to lead towards processing of past and present wounds. Somewhere along the way, we gently shift your nervous system and habits to create the life you are longing for. We were not meant to carry our burdens alone, and I am here to hold space with you.
Ingrid (the therapist) cares about folks on a holistic level - encountering you as an individual but also as a part of a whole, a community. Ingrid takes an approach of acknowledging how systemic issues can contribute deeply to our mental health - these systems can be small (partner to partner, or broader, like our city community). Ingrid also considers the body as a whole and where you might be carrying sensations, with gentle guidance to become aware of how your unique body feels emotions.
In therapy with Ingrid, you can expect a genuine approach with humor intertwined. Compassion and a down-to-earth attitude with a Mary Oliver reference thrown in for good measure.
From Ingrid:
Originally from Michigan, I am a Colorado transplant turned California transplant who loves mushroom foraging, sewing up a new outfit, hanging out at the farmers market and sipping on an iced latte (a little bit of a basic bitch 😉). I'm living life with my spouse and baby daughter in Grover Beach, CA. I love to travel and experience new cultures (some spots I’ve visited and loved are Nepal, Romania, and Mexico) but I’m a homebody at heart. Things that have brought me joy at home have been: fostering puppies, eating sourdough bread, creating with my sewing machine, raising backyard chickens, and tending to garden beds with a myriad of flowers and delicious tomatoes.
Ingrid is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), and is currently pursuing a certificate in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. Ingrid is also trained in EMDR and pursuing a certification as an EMDR therapist.
- MSW from Western Michigan University with a focus on trauma and somatic work.
- LAC through Noeticus Center in Colorado
